Russia appears to do things when opportunity arises. Ukraine government was in disarray over protesting and removal of elected officials. I find none of this Russians business or the United States business. Given the opportunity some Ukrainians decided to become part of Russia via some election process. From the United States stand point this is not a security issue we have no economic hold or assets that we own and nothing in the Constitution gives us the authority to defend other nations and or freedom unless our freedom is threatened. Entering a war with Russia will just about destroy our weak economy already for what? Those who live in that region should work together with the EU etc and secure their borders and strengthen their military that is about the only thing that will stop Russia if they try to continue an advance if they are returning to their old ways.
The EU was not interested in saving or protecting that part of the Ukraine so Russia came in and took over and gave those people in that region an option with a government shifting political and social turmoil.
The United States should have stated very plainly just as military reminder. NATO protects the region against aggressive neighbors and any military action taken against free nations is a threat to the world of independent nations. The Ukraine and Poland and others are not looking to take over Russia or have aggressions toward them and I am sure they don’t want to return to communist iron curtain. Then again people have short memories.
This should be remembered when dealing with nations in the future and the recent past with IRAQ, IRAN, and other countries who display and or power against independent nations.
Going to war and making statements should have reason and justification to a actual interest of the united states and our liberty. The united states military are not the soldiers of the world. They are not doing GODS work or protecting freedoms for other nations. These people of these nations need to become adults and take care of themselves. The US military men and women are free people who are brave to protect OUR freedom, their personal freedom, their families and the families of free AMERICANS. They are not to be used as pawns in a economic, oil, natural gas resource, or drug industry field. If we are that dependent on other nations for everything then we deserve what comes to us and this other nations need to get their defense strategy in order.
